Why Give!

Tithes and Offerings:

Tithes and offerings are key aspects of Christian worship, representing gratitude and faithfulness to God.

Biblical Foundation:

- In Exodus 35:5, Moses encourages voluntary offerings for the Tabernacle, emphasizing willingness over compulsion.

- Tithing means giving a tenth of income, as seen in Leviticus 27:30 and is an act of obedience acknowledging God as the source of blessings.

Tithes: Typically a tenth of income or produce, reflecting an acknowledgment of God’s provision.

Offerings: Additional contributions given freely as expressions of love, thankfulness, and devotion (Psalm 54:6).

Key Principles:

- Willingness: Giving should be voluntary and cheerful (2 Corinthians 9:7).

- Generosity: Reflects trust in God and commitment to His work.

- Purpose: To honor God, build His kingdom, and serve those in need.

Tithes and offerings are both spiritual acts of worship and practical means to support various ministries and missions. They must come from a willing heart, showcasing true worship and devotion to God.

Donations:

2 Corinthians 9:6-7 says, "Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each person should give what they have decided in their heart, not reluctantly or under pressure, for God loves a cheerful giver." This passage gives important guidance on giving, showing it as an expression of faith and love.

The Principle of Sowing and Reaping:

- Being generous matters. Like a farmer who plants seeds generously and enjoys a good harvest, those who give freely will receive blessings in return.

The Heart of the Giver:

- Giving should be intentional and joyful. Paul warns against giving reluctantly or under pressure; true generosity comes from a willing heart.

Cheerful Giving:

- "God loves a cheerful giver" emphasizes that our attitude matters more than the amount we give.

Impact of Generosity:

- Generous giving blesses the receiver and helps the giver grow closer to God and strengthen their faith.

It’s about the heart behind the gift. Generosity reflects trust in God and brings blessings to both the giver and the receiver.
